Not so loud please, Mr birdie.
You know how we were talking about the yin and yang and the birds singing after the storm and all that just the other day?
Well, it just so happens that my world seems to be lightening up again. I can feel many good things coming my way. And to start it off, I just got the job I really, really wanted as a journalist for a newspaper. So if someone could please tell those bloody birds to keep it down a little bit, some of us want to sleep.

Many congratulations to you. I look forward to hearing more about the job as you settle in.
Things are on the up ...

Congrats, Lois :)
Your first big story will be when Switzerland gets swallowed by the artificial black hole you guys are going to be re-creating later in the year...

Congratulations on the new job - I know journalism positions are hard to come by in Europe. I hope all goes well in the initial adjustment phase. I always enjoy reading Swiss papers to see a different perspective on some world events than what I often read here.

I am truly happy for you. I can see the headlines now. Bigfoot captured in Georgia is actually a hairy Swiss guy raised on chocolate. Oh? you don't work for the Enquire yet... How about this lead, John Edwards gets "Father of the year" again? How about you do an article about cooking? Start out with Swiss Bird Recipes in orange sauce... Luv ya kid, keep up the good work.

Aggs- Thank you! I'm stoked.
Oh yeah, and can you please take those birds with you on your way out. They are hurting my ears.
SJ- Well, I guess neither I nor the newspaper will be around after everything has been swallowed. Maybe I should look for another job.
EM- They are extremely hard to come by... I was lucky. Thank you for the good wishes.
Mystic- Hahaha, well, should I ever run out of story ideas, I will make sure to contact you.

Hmm, I'm the "not so hairy Swiss guy" trapped somewhere 3 hours north from NYC. Well, I wouldn't mind to get a job as a reporter either, could be very interesting at times. But now YOU got it; that's a good thing!
But what the hell are birds doing chirping around at 1:00AM??? Or maybe the time zone is different...
P.S. Thanks for the blurb on my blog, I appreciate it.

they hired you because you're the best damn journalist they've ever seen! they are no doubt kissing the ground you walk on, thanking their lucky stars, and burning incense to keep away the other newspapers. congratulations bettina! you rock.

p.s. you blurbed on zee's blog? try some pepto bismol, maybe that'll settle your stomach.
I also heard drinking ginger ale will settle the queasiness.
and get lots of rest, you'd hate to blurb all over your desk the first day at your new job.
August 18, 2008 at 2:29 AM
Zee- Exactely, what ARE the birds doing chirping at 1am? Very good question. If I wasn't vegetarian, I would have to consider those birds on orange sauce.
Sera- Oh Sera, thank you! Can I pay you to make me feel better whenever I'm down? Because you do a mighty fine job.
And you are absolutely right, I think it would not be a good look if I turned up at work blurbing all over my desk. Or even other people's desks! (Although Zee didn't seem to mind.) I might have to look into that ginger ale. Do you think it works if it is taken with Pimms?

Just don't get stuck with the recipe page ... although being vegan how about bird's nest soup???

CONGRATS!!!!!!
Sorry about the bird, but just look at it this way, it's seranading you. Wishing you luck in it's own way.

I knew Mystic was a bad shot. Just scared them away for a bit.
Congrats on the new job and good luck.
Scaramouche was right. I was talking to some physicists a few months ago, that work over in Switzerland. Matter of fact, I blogged about it. They were talking about building tiny black holes or something like them. Although, they were also talking about building their own woman. So I think you might have a little reprieve. They will probably try to perfect a homemade woman before they perfect the little black holes.

Ohhh Beautina, I am really happy for Your sake - CONGRATS

A Job? What about the music festivals? Congratulations Bella!!!
August 20, 2008 at 9:02 AM
Aggs- It's not quite vegan, it's only vegetarian, but you're right... bird's nest soup's a good one. And if I run out of ideas, I'll call Mystic.
Callie- I know. It only means well.
Larry- I heard about the black hole thing. However, I did not hear about the perfect woman thing. Who wants a perfect woman anyway? I think us not-quite-perfect women are much more interesting.
Anna-Lys- Thanks beautiful.
Christy- That would be much appreciated, thanks.
Girl on the run- Thanks sweets. It has taken a little while, but it's all been worth it.
Blitheroo- You're absolutely right. Fitting the job AND the music festivals in will be a challenge. However, I'm planning to work my way up so eventually I am head of the music festivals departement and won't have to write about anything else anymore.

The perfect woman thing was just an offhand remark I threw their way, while joking with them about talking to a woman that was there. However, they liked the remark so much, they were planning to use it on their co-workers when they returned from the states.
And, I think that you are correct about the not-quite-perfect woman. It is my friends imperfections that endear them to me. It also seems to be that way with the women that I have dated.

HUGE congrats sweetheart! That's so great, you getting the job you really wanted :)
And a gorgeous place (pine tree included) to top it all off ;)
See? Things were bound to work out.
Now you just have to sit back and enjoy...
