Tree times as smart

When I sit at my desk in my new place and look out of the window, I see this big beautiful pine tree. Which is a great thing not only because it's a pleasant sight. But also because it is apparently scientifically proven that girls who grow up with a tree in front of their window will end up being more intelligent than girls who look out onto concrete.

I know, I know, I might be stretching the terms "girl" and "growing up" just a tiny little bit, but honestly, let's not get bogged down with the details. Anyway, I think at 29, I can easily still classify as a girl (and even when I turn 30, thank you very much), plus I don't feel all grown up yet, so the tree can't hurt in any case. I did also, by the way, grow up with a pear tree in front of my window when I was a little girl. Not that I'm trying to insinnuate anything here.

Funny how things work...I just came in from walking the dog. In my back yard is a pear tree full of ripe fruit (critters ate the other stuff in the front yard). I pulled one off and it was so sweet and juicy. I fed part of it to the dog...Sheba is still dumb as a post but her room doesn't have a view of the tree. I have to go out and pick up all the pears that have already fallen. I'll take a picture for you..I think it is the tree where that stupid bird lives... I thought eating fish made you smart.

Pine or concrete - don't we have other options? lol. How about growing up staring at a cactus.... So a pear is pretty good.

What if it is a statue of a tree? How does that work? I bet I could get the U.S. government to finance a study on that. Hmmm, I wish I knew how to go about getting a research grant. Could sure use the money.

The tree gives you something to look at and gives you imagination instead of you laughing at somebody tripping on the concrete. Somebody falling has always put a smile on my face. I guess I need to look at the trees a little longer then.

I have lovely oak trees in my backyard. One (very ancient) 30 tonne one in the neighbours yard, fell over and flattened my garage. So, they are lovely, but just make sure they aren't near enough to fall on your head.
Lol!

Mystic- Yes please, feed the dog more pears and take pictures of fish and I'm sure we'll all end up a lot smarter.

EM-Surely there must be other options. I was wondering what looking at a poster of a tree would do? What about some grass without any trees?

Larry- I know, I had similar questions. Please do get involved in some research for me, I'm quite curious. Maybe I could research how to get a research grant for you?

YSB- I agree, a bit more time with the pine tree surely couldn't hurt.

Aggie- Good point. I will try to remember that.

SJ- I'm probably going to be quite sorry about saying that, but yes please. Do tell.

I'm a bit inquizative myself. I'll share the answers. I'll have to, the gov't will be paying for them. But, the research would be biased. I mean, really, how hard can it be to bend statistics to my will? Of course people with statues of trees would be smarter than people who only have a wall or flat slab of concrete to stare at. Unless, of course, there is a doorway in the wall. Doorways help encourage imaginations. I might have just made that up. But it sounded good!

There used to be a maginificent, huge pine tree outside my bedroom window, back in Brussels. It was really a pleasure to look at...
Until some idiot went and cut it down, that is :(
Not that I am trying to insinuate anything here (other than that your post is spot on ;))
