Just another day in the life of a blessed child

Ok, it's official now.

I have, at best, a mild case of internet addiction. I'm in between jobs at the moment so have no access to the net at work and our internet at home was down for at least a couple of weeks. It was hell.

I don't even spend that much time on the internet, but I realised how heavily I rely on it. I couldn't find a job because I couldn't send any job applications per e-mail or call employment agencies because I couldn't look up their number on the net. I couldn't remove the rust stain from my yellow dress because I needed the internet to look up how to do that. I couldn't keep in touch with my family and friends overseas because my beloved Gmail account was not accessible. I didn't know how to get anywhere because I couldn't look up the best route on the net. I couldn't pay my bills because I use netbanking. I couldn't book accomodation or restaurants for our weekend away, because I couldn't look it up on the internet. My spelling and use of synonyms went downhill, because I couldn't use the appropriate reference sites. I didn't know what my friends are doing and couldn't see their silly photos because I couldn't access Facebook. I didn't know what was happening in the world because I couldn't read online news. My blog friends started to desert me and take me off their blogroll (wink, wink, SJ) because I didn't update my blog for a couple of weeks.

My life lost its meaning. But thank God my internet is back now and I can finally function like a normal person again.

I wish I could take my internet with me everywhere, for walks on fanciful days, for a cup of coffee, to the beach on dark, stormy afternoons when the waves crash angrily at the shore.
I'd take it to candlelight dinner and to bed with me afterwards.
I'd dress my internet like a doll, according to my mood.
I feel like the bride of Chucky.

I think I would marry mine if that were possible. Of course, I just wish it was the type of internet that would keep me in the lap of luxury ... but my internet is a BUM! Thems da breaks!
It is sort of scary how dependant we have become on technology.

I'd end up in the corner naked and shaking in the fetal position if I lost the internet.

SJ- I do post. Just not all the time! I reserve the right to still have a life! But with the new system I don't feel ostracised anymore. Thanks. :-)

Sera- Would you take it for drives in your convertible too and introduce it to your parents?

You are an absolute crack up.

Aggs- You would marry your internet even though it is a bum? That must be true love.

Cindy-Lou- I know, I know. It was my favourite too.

Jerry- Me too. In fact, I like books a lot more. They just aren't essential for my survival, whereas the internet is. Having said that, I would really hate to live without books.

What a coincident!
I was yesterday evening checking out what's coming up on our "film studio" (films that aren't at cinemas in Sweden) and "Darjeeling Limited" is coming up on the 3:th of April ... I was planing to watch it due to its by Wes Anderson (an amalgamation of Ingemar Bergman and Quentin Tarantiono). I didn't know that Peter Sarstedt's music was in the film, they have only mentioned The Kinks and The Rolling Stones. Wes Anderson are extremely pedantic with music ... so of course a film about 1960 most have this track of Peter Sarstedt also :-))

Was the film as great as it sounds?

(( hugs ))

Isn't it funny how sometimes things like these come together? In German, we call a coincidence a "Zufall", which literally translated means "to fall to"...

I loved "The Darjeeling Limited"- you can find the review I wrote for a website here if you're interested. The Peter Sarstedt song is part of a Wes Anderson little pre-movie to it, called "Hotel Chevalier."
